Walk For RainLily - Walkathon
RainLily and Zonta Club of Hong Kong East Join Hands Supporting Sexual Violence Victims

Walkathon hosted by RainLily, Hong Kong first crisis centre for sexual violence, on Nov 11, 2017 is a remarkable success. RainLily and Zonta Club of Hong Kong East have been promoting women’s rights. Zonta Club of Hong Kong East has raised HK$80,000 for RainLily to support the services to sexual violence victims and public education work. At the end of the Walkathon, RainLily has prepared an interview video of survivors for the participants, to understand the feelings of sexual violence survivors.

Linda Wong, executive director of RainLily and Ada Yu, chairperson of Zonta Club of Hong Kong East also took part in the Walkathon. Wong wished the sharing of survivor could “let member of the public to understand their feelings and their needs and experiences throughout their recovery, so to join hands to support the victims from sexual violence. “

The Walkathon is a kick-off for #MeTooHK events. Honoring the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, ACSVAW is hosting a series of events on anti-gender based violence and survivor empowerment, including Sexual Abuse Survivors’ Portraits Exhibition, Survivors Sharing and Run & Read activity. We hope through these events, members of public can understand gender-based violence in Hong Kong and to support survivors in voicing out, and to end sexual violence together.
