Arise - Sexual Abuse Survivors’ Portraits

Arise - Sexual Abuse Survivors’ Portraits Exhibition

“I believe that we can see the light again after the dark days.”

RainLily is a bright flower that blossoms after rain. We believe that women who have survived the storm of sexual assault are like the RainLily; possessing the inner strength to rise and blossom out of adversity.

“Arise” displays portraits’ of five survivors of sexual abuse who have courageously stepped out and opened up about their stories. They not merely survived the trauma, but through transformation, they live jubilantly as a confident survivor leading beautiful lives.

In response to November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, ACSVAW kicks off a yearlong campaign called #MeTooHK, a continuation of the global #MeToo movement. The campaign launches with a series of events on anti-gender based violence and survivor empowerment – including sexual abuse survivors’ portraits exhibition, survivors sharing, anti-sexual harassment training etc… We hope through the campaign, the public can raise awareness for gender-based violence in Hong Kong, support survivors in voicing out, and to end sexual violence together.
