應對性／別暴力的問題，需要了解這些現象的性質和普遍程度。充分的數據除了可顯示支援資源應如何定位外，亦有助社會探索回應問題的方向及措施。為方便公眾可以更容易了解香港的性暴力問題狀況，我們選取了社會福利署、警務處及平等機會委員會的若干官方數據並製成了一系列圖表，僅供不同人士作參考。
To tackle sexual and gender-based violence, it is necessary to understand the nature and prevalence of these phenomena. Adequate data can not only show how support resources should be positioned, but also help society explore the direction and measures to address the issue. In order to facilitate the public's understanding of the situation of sexual violence in Hong Kong, we have selected official data from the Social Welfare Department, the Police Force, and the Equal Opportunities Commission, and compiled a series of charts for reference by different parties.

關於侵犯者的身份，比對社署提供的個案統計數字和風雨蘭處理的求助個案，兩者有明顯差別。根據風雨蘭的數據顯示，約九成的求助個案涉及熟人侵犯，僅有不足一成的個案是由陌生人干犯。相反地，從社署發佈的數據可見，最主要的侵犯者卻是陌生人，以2024年的數字為例，便有約四成個案是由陌生人干犯。這些數據差異，可能與個案的接案/轉介來源有關。以2021年至2024年為例，社署接獲的新呈報性暴力個案中，最主要的呈報機構是「香港警務處」，佔整體個案的六成至七成半左右。考慮到熟人干犯的性侵個案中，受害人的報警機會較低，這些狀況可能導致了由警方呈報的個案較多集中在陌生人干犯一類，從而間接影響了社署的統計數字與個案種類分佈。
